In an effort to raise safety and conservation awareness, California’s first hunter education law was enacted in 1954. California requires hunter education training for those who have never held a California hunting license, who do not have a hunter education certificate, or who do not have a hunting license from another state or province issued within the past two years. Students may choose between three class format options. Classes are offered throughout the State by more than 1,000 certified volunteer instructors, all dedicated to keeping hunting safe, ethical, and available to all Californians.

This training complies with the Good Samaritan Laws. No prior first aid training needed. This workshop covers procedures not taught in basic first-aid courses. Each attendee receives a Certificate of Completion & Written Instructions. The instructor developed the first medical kit in the U.S. to treat a gunshot wound. He has trained the: NYPD, LAPD, FBI, U.S Secret Service, hundreds of Schools (including Columbine), Churches and many other organizations.

These are free classes that will be offered on a regular basis and will include topics like bass fishing, fly fishing, meat processing and predator hunting. Hunter's Safety Education Courses
Bass Pro is proud to sponsor Hunter’s Safety Education through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The courses are an excellent source for those wanting more knowledge about hunting and firearms safety. The course is required to obtain a hunting license. Regularly scheduled traditional courses are on Saturdays. Regularly scheduled follow-up courses are on Sundays (previous online instruction required). You can only sign-up via the links below. We are unable to accept sign-ups in our store.

In addition, our 8,000 gallon fresh water aquarium offers an up-close view of our trophy-sized cat fish, bass, striper and blue gill all obtained from local waters. Join us every Saturday at noon to view our fish feeding and right afterwards the kids can help us feed the trout in our meandering indoor trout stream.


Learn from our Hunting and Fishing Professionals! Interested in a new outdoor skill or improving existing ones? Watch for the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Skills Workshops schedule. These are free classes that will be offered on a regular basis and will include topics like bass fishing, fly fishing, meat processing and predator hunting. Widely recognized for their efforts in conservation and outdoor education, Bass Pro Shops has received more conservation awards than any other outdoors retailer. Hunter's Safety Education Courses
Bass Pro is proud to sponsor Hunter’s Safety Education through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The courses are an excellent source for those wanting more knowledge about hunting and firearms safety. The course is required to obtain a hunting license. Regularly scheduled traditional courses are on Saturdays. Regularly scheduled follow-up courses are on Sundays (previous online instruction required). You can only sign-up via the links below. We are unable to accept sign-ups in our store.
